Saragossa Central Market
The Central Market of Saragossa is located in the historic center, very close to the Hotel Sauce, and a few meters from the Plaza del Pilar.
Mercado Central de Saragossa is a magnificent modernist building designed by Félix Navarro, built at the beginning of the 20th century and rehabilitated in 2020. In addition, it is one of the few remaining examples of modernist markets and stands out its two modernist style facades with neo-classical touches of iron and glass.
During the day you will find its 74 food stalls full of fresh and local products: fruits and vegetables such as borage or thistle, typical meats such as lamb from Aragon, sausages, artisanal cheeses and a wide selection of fish and shellfish.
In addition, it has 4 gastronomic spaces to have vermouth, lunch or dinner.
The history of the Central Market of Saragossa is closely linked to the San Pablo neighborhood, which was the orchard of Saragossa. Since the 12th century, there was an open-air market in this area where they sold all the products they grew and which would be modernized with the construction of the Central Market in 1903.
