Patio of the Infanta

The Ibercaja headquarters houses the monumental Aragonese Renaissance complex from the 16th century, and an exhibition hall that exhibits samples of proven quality.

Access to the monument site is through the entrance on 16 San Ignacio de Loyola Street.

The Patio de la Infanta is part of the architectural complex of the old Lonja de Saragossa, a historic building that used to be a trading center in the past.

The Patio de la Infanta enclosure is made up of two spaces, The Patio de la Infanta and a temporary exhibition hall.

On the street level you will first access a pre-room in which the history of the magnificent patio is reviewed. The Renaissance Patio is decorated with 8 tapestries from the 15th to 17th centuries from the Ibercaja collection, made in Flanders and Brussels and signed by important cartoonists such as Rubens.

One level higher is the courtyard gallery with arches and columns of Renaissance architecture, which can only be accessed on the guided tours organized by the center every day.

Throughout the year, the Patio de la Infanta presents a varied program of temporary exhibitions and other cultural events.

In addition to its cultural content, the Patio de la Infanta is a notable example of Renaissance architecture in Saragossa. Architectural details, such as columns and arches, are representative of the period.

The name of the patio refers to Infanta Teresa of Portugal, wife of John II of Castile, who played an important role in the history of Saragossa. The place is named after her in honor of her influence and connection to the city.
