Arch of the Dean
In the heart of Saragossa, a few minutes’ walk from the Hotel Sauce is the Arch of the Dean. It is one of the most touristic places in the city and is hidden in a narrow street in the old town, behind La Seo, where the atmosphere of medieval Zaragoza can still be felt in its streets.
Be careful with your soul! Legend has it that the Dean asked Lucifer for help to pay for the works, who agreed in exchange for the souls of the people who passed under the arch to be his.

Arch of the Dean
The Arch and the Dean’s House is an architectural complex of great importance. It is the only medieval home from the 13th century, not palatial, that has survived to this day, and furthermore, the arch is the only one that has been preserved of all those that existed in the city.
The façade of the house is Gothic in style, and highlights the arch and the gallery with a bay window with mullioned arches of Plateresque-Mudejar tracery.
The Dean’s House was built in the 13th century as the residence of the Dean of the Seo Cathedral.
For years it underwent renovations and extensions and one of the most important was the arch that would join the house with the Cathedral.
Years later the building was acquired by the current Ibercaja, which was responsible for its total restoration, saving this monument from disappearance.
Today, the interior of the Casa y Arco del Deán cannot be visited, but you can go under the arch and enjoy this emblematic place in Saragossa.
