Goya Museum
If there is an indisputable universal Aragonese, an unparalleled creative genius, one of those unrepeatable figures that emerge only once in history, that is Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. Born in Fuendetodos, province of Saragossa, Goya had a close relationship with the city and his mark can be seen in the Saragossa of the 21st century.
Saragossa has a spectacular museum dedicated entirely to the figure of the genius of Fuendetodos. In this exhibition space we will enjoy original works by the painter, some unpublished to date in Saragossa, with special attention to the works of the first Goya. Not in vain did the artist begin his pictorial training in the city. But we will also find works by contemporary authors, paintings that influenced him and later authors in which the unmistakable mark of Goya can be seen.
The Ibercaja Goya Museum in Saragossa has a decidedly didactic character </ strong> and has audiovisuals that explain the importance of the painter, his relationship with Saragossa and the magnitude of his work.
But perhaps the highlight of the exhibition are the famous Goya Engravings. The Goya Museum in Saragossa is the only museum in the world where you can see in full all the artist’s great series of engravings: Copies of Velázquez, Caprichos, Disasters of War, Bullfighting, Disparates and Bordeaux bulls. A total of 250 lithographs that are part of 5 series of engravings.
The Goya Museum – Ibercaja Collection is located inside the Pardo Renaissance palace, located on Espoz y Mina Street in the old town, next to the Sauce Hotel and a few meters from the Plaza del Pilar.
