The Monastery of the Resurrection of the Holy Sepulchre or better known as the Monastery of the Holy Sepulchre, is made up of the church of San Nicol\u00e1s de Bari and the temple of the Holy Sepulchre and the convent facilities.<\/p>\n
The Convent is a monastic architectural complex in the Mudejar and Gothic style, being the only Mudejar-style convent structure that has survived completely and in operation to this day.<\/p>\n
The Monastery of Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre was founded in the 12th century at the initiative of Ramiro II of Aragon and his wife In\u00e9s de l\u2019Espo. Its construction was carried out in an initial Romanesque style and subsequently underwent modifications and additions at different times.<\/p>\n
The architecture of the monastery combines elements in Its more than seven centuries of History has a varied architecture with a mixture of styles, although Mudejar predominates. The Mudejar style is characteristic of the Aragon region and was developed during the Middle Ages, being a fusion of Islamic and Christian influences. <\/p>\n
In the Monastery of Canonesas del Santo Sepulcro, it is possible to find Mudejar elements in certain parts of the structure, such as in the decorations and architectural forms. These elements add additional historical and artistic value to the monastery and show the cultural interaction that occurred in the region during that era.<\/p>\n
The church and the cloister stand out as the most significant parts of the complex.
\n\u2022 Church of the Holy Sepulchre dates back to the 14th century, and was one of the first buildings built in the entire monastery complex. It has a Mudejar structure and inside rests a Baroque altarpiece. Also noteworthy is the baroque door that gives access to the chapter house.
\n\u2022 Chapter house and crypt from the end of the 14th century, where the Mudejar decoration and the capitals that preside over the columns that support the vault stand out. In the chapter house of the Monastery of the Resurrection, there is the crypt, framed between the Roman Walls of the city. Inside lies a polychrome carving of Christ from the 16th century.
\n\u2022 Mudejar cloister is one of the jewels of the monastery.
\n\u2022 Refectory: lastly, you can visit the old dining room of the Monastery of the Resurrection, another Mudejar jewel of the premises where there is a small exhibition of utensils that have been used in the monastery along with a recreation with the tables and tableware that they used and a model of the entire premises.
\n\u2022The monastery also houses Documentary Funds.<\/p>\n
The Archive of the Monastery of Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre of Saragossa made up of 132 parchments and 95 boxes. It is made up of two documentary collections.
