Its architectural design <strong>is a magnificent example of Spanish-Muslim Islamic art<\/strong> with beautiful horseshoe arches, geometric details and ornate stucco that adorned its walls. Outside it housed lush gardens and patios.<\/p>\n<p>With the Christian conquest of Saragossa, the Aljafer\u00eda Palace passed into the hands of the Christian monarchs, and various modifications were made to adapt it to its new use as a royal palace and fortress.<\/p>\n<p>The Aljafer\u00eda became the seat of the court of Aragon and an important political and administrative center of the kingdom. During this period, Gothic and Renaissance elements were added<\/p>\n<p>During the Middle Ages, additional fortifications were erected to protect it from the conflicts and wars that ravaged the region.<\/p>\n<p>In the 17th century, the Aljafer\u00eda Palace lost its function as a royal residence and fell into a state of progressive deterioration. However, in the 19th century, it was restored and became the headquarters of the Court of the Captaincy General.<\/p>\n<p><strong>During the 20th century, restoration work began to restore it to its former splendor and turn it into the current headquarters of the Cortes of Aragon,<\/strong> the legislative institution of the autonomous community of Aragon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La Aljafer\u00eda is, without a doubt, one of the most precious treasures of Saragossa <\/strong>and an outstanding place of tourist interest, open to the public for visits.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can tour its magnificently decorated halls, such as the Golden Hall and the Throne Room, which display a rich combination of Islamic, Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements.
